Not cool bro

Tbh I mostly been watching the protest with interest but I didn't really feel adressed. I just draw for fun and my stuff is too sucky to be picked up by AI - I hoped ya'll would be heard, but didn't see myself in all of this.

Until I encountered the most infuriating comment in the world: "No one ever has original ideas, people/artists constantly steal from each other or are inspired by others. Art isn't made in a bubble - and AI Art is just the same".

Oh boy. Oh BOY.

I always go out of way to motivate people to draw, to pick up a pen, to challenge themselves and learn to love the progress, the process and the struggle. And just claiming no one ever has new ideas, everyone just regurgitates what they just consumed, is so so insulting. There are so many ideas yet to be come up with. And there's a world of difference between stichting up images and developing your own style, characters and stories.

I'm really not a fan of the statement.

Art is more then just the result, it teaches problem solving, how to concentrate, it can get quite meditative. Most of the stuff I draw doesn't even make it on any Social media anymore, I share it on Discord and with friends, but besides that, uploading has taken a backseat. And it has done so much for a better mental health. If the Ai stuff and Social Media is stressing you as an artist, consider giving it a break and just concentrate on the craft! (Ofc doesn't work if you need it for work)

I hope young artists don't get demotivated over all of this. Take care everyone!
